Textor Converting leverages advanced technologies and innovative processes to tailor our nonwoven solutions to meet specific customer needs, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and sustainability in our products. Our expertise in converting nonwoven materials makes us a trusted partner for industries requiring reliable and versatile material solutions.

Textor Converting is a vertically integrated wet wipes business that produces both nonwoven fabric and wet wipes which streamlines the entire production process, ensuring greater control over quality, cost, and supply chain efficiency. We start by manufacturing our own nonwoven fabric, typically using a blend of synthetic and natural fibres.

By overseeing the hydroentanglement process, we ensure the fabric meets specific standards for strength, softness, and absorbency. Once the fabric is produced, it is moved into our wet wipe manufacturing line, where it is cut, saturated with a precisely formulated solution tailored to the intended use of the wipes, and then folded and packaged.

This seamless integration allows Textor Converting to quickly adapt to market demands, implement stringent quality controls at every stage, and reduce costs associated with external suppliers. The result is a high-quality, reliable product delivered efficiently to our customers across Australia.

Textor Converting is an Australian family-owned company and is part of the Textor Group of companies. We are Australia’s only fully integrated wet wipes company who specialises in the manufacturing and converting of nonwoven materials for various industries. We focus on producing high-quality products such as baby and personal care wipes, household cleaning wipes, medical disinfecting and infection control wipes.

ABOUT US

OUR EXPERTISE

Fabric Development

The development of wet wipes fabric has seen remarkable progress, originally crafted from non-woven materials like polyester and polypropylene. Today, we integrate natural biodegradable fibres to enhance sustainability and comfort. Innovations in fabric technology have also introduced full biodegradable options, meeting growing environmental demands. Textor Converting is part of the Textor Group of Businesses which includes Textor Technologies who have renowned innovation and manufacturing capabilities at our Tullamarine manufacturing facility in Melbourne, Australia.

Having these capabilities in-house allows Textor Converting direct access to developing novel structures for every wiping occasion and provide a unique opportunity for our customers to partner with Australia’s only fully integrated wet wipe manufacturer, creating solutions from fabric production through to the delivery of finished wipes packs.

These advancements continually refine the texture, strength, and absorbency of wet wipes, ensuring their effectiveness across diverse applications, from personal hygiene to cleaning.

MAKING THE NONWOVEN FABRIC

The process of making fabric for wet wipes starts with the selection of raw materials, typically a blend of natural fibres like viscose and synthetic fibres like polyester. These fibres are chosen for their balance of durability, softness, and absorbency.

The fibres are first carded and laid out in a web, which is then subjected to hydroentanglement, also known as the spunlace process. In this method, high-pressure water jets are used to entangle the fibres, creating a cohesive and flexible nonwoven fabric without the need for chemical binders. The resulting fabric is then dried and ready to undergo additional treatments to enhance its properties, such as adding lotions, fragrances, or antibacterial agents.

Finally, the fabric is cut into appropriate sizes and prepared for the next stage of the wet wipes production process

CREATING THE FORMULATION

Creating formulations for wet wipes involves a detailed and systematic approach to ensure the end product is effective, safe, and suitable for its intended use. The process starts with defining the purpose of the wet wipes, such as cleansing, disinfecting, or moisturising. Based on this purpose, a selection of active ingredients is made.

For instance, surfactants might be chosen for their cleansing properties, emollients for moisturising, and disinfectants for germ-killing effects. These active ingredients are then mixed with water, which acts as the primary solvent, along with other necessary components like preservatives to prevent microbial growth and stabilisers to maintain the formulation's consistency. The mixture undergoes rigorous testing to ensure it meets safety standards, does not irritate the skin, and effectively performs its intended function.

PACKAGING OPTIMISATION

Our customer-friendly packaging is designed with the end-user in mind, focusing on ease of use, safety, and convenience. It ensures that products are easy to open, handle, and store, enhancing the overall consumer experience.

Our focus on innovative packaging leverages cutting-edge technology and creative design to enhance functionality, sustainability, and consumer appeal.

At Textor Converting, we employ strategic packaging optimisation techniques to enhance efficiency, sustainability, and product protection. By minimising packaging material usage and improving space utilisation in transit, we can lower costs and minimise the impact on the environment.

PRODUCING THE WET WIPES

Once the nonwoven fabric and formulations are produced, we are then ready for the final step in the wet wipes manufacturing process where the nonwoven fabric, formulation and packaging materials are combined through the converting process to create the end product.

The fabric is then fed through a machine that evenly saturates it with the prepared solution. After saturation, the wet wipes are folded and packaged in airtight packs to maintain their moisture and efficacy.

The final product undergoes quality checks to ensure consistency, safety, and effectiveness before being shipped out to our customers.
